1.Open the battery door which is the back of the tools.
2.Install a 9V battery (6F22) into the compartment .
3.Replace the battery door, Battery life is approximately 50 hours.
Using the detector
1.Position the unit flat against the wall.
2.Press on/off button and hold in.
3.Slowly slide unit horizontally across the wall, right or left. As you begin to approach a stud, the Yellow LEDs will light, from bottom to top.
4.When the top Red LED lights and the beep sounds, you have located the edge of the stud. Mark this spot.
5.Continue scanning beyond the marked spot until the yellow LEDs go out. Slide the unit in the reverse direction to locate the other edge of stud.
6.Mark this second spot. Between the two spots is the stud position.
AC Wire warning
AC wire warning is active in all modes, automatically detecting hot AC wiring up to 3 inches deep.
The Stud Finder detects from 90 to 250 V at 50 to 60 Hz AC in a hot electrical wire. The voltage detection feature works continuously in Stud Finder modes. When sensing voltage, the AC LED comes on.
